Friends of Strasburg Rec

MISSION STATEMENT: To support Strasburg Parks & Rec District by raising funds for youth scholarships, special projects, and engaging in community partnerships that promote access, inclusion, and lifelong engagement in recreation and wellness.

The Friends of SMPRD organization meets bi-annually to organize fundraising activities and administer scholarship funds. If you are interested in donating or participating in the organization please contact 303-622-4260. We are always looking for community members interested in helping. The Board of Directors for the Friends of SMPRD meet in March and September each year. Current Board Members include: Angela Graf, Holly Russell, and Tina Connely.

YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS

Have you heard about our Youth Scholarship program? It provides recreational opportunities to financially-challenged families and is made possible by the fundraising efforts of the Friends of SMPRD and private donors. Please complete the application HERE 

ONLINE AUCTION FUNDRAISER

Get a head start on your Christmas shopping and support a great cause at the same time. The Stocking Stuffer Online Auction allows you to bid on your favorite gift cards, merchandise, and event certificates. All proceeds benefit the Friends of Strasburg Rec. DATES: November 2026

SHS SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship Details:

  1. Applicants are required to have completed community service during the school year and be a Strasburg High School Senior.
  2. The successful candidate must meet at least one or more of the following criteria:
    1. involved in sports and/or recreation programs at Strasburg High School
    2. interested in entering an Exercise, Sport, or Recreational Management field
    3. have volunteered, worked for, or participated in programs at Strasburg Parks & Rec
  3. One-time $500 award for continuing education expenses to be used at the institute of your choice.

Instructions:

  • Clearly print the personal information below.
  • Attach one (1) page to this application and include the following information:
    • Community service performed (preferably in youth activities).
    • Your qualification for this award (see #2 above).
    • Your plans for the future.
    • Other scholarship and/or financial awards you have already received.
  • Attach a Letter of Recommendation from another person (not a relative).
  • Return the completed application to: SMPRD, 1932 Burton Street in Strasburg.
  • Deadline: April 15th (each year)
